Top Student Hangouts in Hull

May 7, 2019

Here at Loc8me, we are all about supporting our student tenants and making you feel at home.

Once you get settled in your student housing accommodation, the next step is to check out what the local area has to offer (and rest assured, Hull has plenty to offer!).

In today’s blog, Loc8me share our favourite local student hangouts in Hull.

The Gardeners Arms
With a menu starting from as little as £2.50, and Sky Sports to boot, it is no surprise that The Gardeners Arms is a popular student hangout spot in Hull.

With friendly staff and Irish ancestry, The Gardeners Arms invites you to ‘celebrate the craic’ by filling up your glass and getting social.

There is also a large beer garden to enjoy an ice-cold one on a summer’s afternoon.
It’s a yes from us!

The Piper nightclub
Established in 1965, The Piper nightclub has seen its fair share of party goers of the years.

Recently refurbished, The Piper has relaunched itself as the place to be, with popular student nights such as ‘Hyper Fridays’ and ‘Get Lucky’ Monday’s, that offer drink promotions and resident DJ spots. Follow The Piper’s twitter account to keep up-to-date with the latest events.

The Piper operates a strict challenge 25 policy, so remember to bring your ID.

The Friends gang had Central Perk, but here in Hull, we feel we have the edge with Planet Coffee.

An independent cafe serving coffee, paninis, cake and milkshakes, Planet Coffee is popular for students and locals who want to support their local businesses.

A great place to chat with friends on comfy sofas over a hot chocolate, or to catch up on university work whilst sipping on iced tea, Planet Coffee is the perfect place to get some headspace and relax a little. We also hear their butterscotch milkshake is to die for.

The Deep
Hull’s The Deep is home to 5,000 animals including sharks and penguins and has cemented itself as one of the most famous Aquariums in the UK.

As well as holding special events, The Deep encourages students studying in Marine Biology and similar subjects, to get involved in undertaking research on the marine environment for their end of year projects.

The Deep also offers a special student ticket price for NUS and University Card holders, of which you can purchase online with an extra 10% discount than paying on the door.

KCOM Stadium
The official home of both Hull City and Hull FC, the KCOM Stadium is a must for Football and Rugby League fans.

With a capacity to hold 25,000 people, the KCOM Stadium is located next to a Victorian park and is easy to access from all areas of Hull. It is recommended to get their early on match days, due to large crowds.

The stadium also hosts conferences and events and offers a full stadium tour and a special student price for both Hull City and Hull FC tickets.

Dope Burger
Describing themselves as the ‘best gourmet burgers in Hull’*, Dope Burger is a popular student take-out.

With three branches in Hull, there is no way you can miss out on their delicious menu of burgers, hotdogs and specialist fries. Their pièce de résistance, however, is their Unicorn Bagel Burger, that comes in a rainbow bagel, with candied bacon, steak patty and cheese. Yum!

Dope Burger is available on both Just Eat and Deliveroo. Check out the Dope Burger Facebook page and Twitter for regular competitions and menu updates.
