The Director of IT, Systems and Security is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, governance, and continuous improvement of loc8me’s technology, systems, cyber security, and digital infrastructure.

The role exists to ensure technology supports business strategy, product development, operational growth, data quality and scalable working practices, whilst safeguarding the business from cyber, data, infrastructure and technology risk.

The Director of IT, Systems and Security is expected to provide technology leadership across the organisation, ensuring platforms, systems, integrations and technical controls are secure, reliable, scalable and well adopted to support sustainable growth, high-performing teams and digital and data leadership.

The director should lead oper8. However, individual department leaders should remain responsible for identifying opportunities in their functions and embedding agreed changes within their teams.

Key duties and requirements include:

  • Develop and deliver the company’s technology strategy aligned with business objectives, product development, operational growth and digital priorities.
  • Own the technology roadmap, ensuring systems, platforms, infrastructure and integrations support the current and future needs of the business.
  • Define and maintain the technical architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, secure and fit for purpose.
  • Provide clear technology advice to the senior leadership team to support strategic planning, investment decisions and operational performance.
  • Ensure technology priorities are commercially sound, appropriately resourced and aligned with sustainable profitable growth.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, adoption and continuous improvement of business systems and platforms across the organisation.
  • Ensure systems and integrations support efficient workflows, accurate data, strong reporting and consistent ways of working.
  • Work with operational teams to identify system issues, process gaps and opportunities for improved automation or better digital tools.
  • Ensure platforms are well governed, documented, maintained and supported with clear ownership and escalation routes.
  • Manage system change in a controlled way, balancing business needs, user adoption, risk and technical integrity.
  • Safeguard the business from cyber, data, infrastructure and technology risk through appropriate controls, policies and assurance processes.
  • Own cyber security standards, access controls, data protection controls, technical risk management and incident response planning.
  • Ensure systems and suppliers support data protection requirements, secure handling of information and appropriate audit trails.
  • Monitor technology risks, vulnerabilities, system weaknesses and compliance gaps, escalating material risks with proposed actions.
  • Promote cyber awareness and responsible system use across the business.
  • Ensure core systems, infrastructure and platforms are reliable, resilient, secure and able to support business continuity.
  • Oversee disaster recovery, backup, access management, technical controls, system monitoring and incident response processes.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for key systems, infrastructure, integrations, permissions and technical processes.
  • Maintain clear standards for system availability, support, change control, issue resolution and escalation.
  • Ensure technology operations support day-to-day business performance and long-term scalability.
  • Lead technical delivery, digital change projects and technology implementation activity across the business.
  • Support the Project Lead to ensure projects are well scoped, planned, prioritised, delivered and embedded effectively.
  • Set clear delivery standards, project governance, documentation expectations, testing requirements and handover processes.
  • Work cross-functionally with operational, finance, property, lettings, compliance and leadership teams to deliver technology-enabled change.
  • Ensure digital change activity improves efficiency, data quality, service delivery and user experience.
  • Lead technology vendor selection, supplier management, contract review and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure third-party technology suppliers are appropriately assessed for security, reliability, value, service quality and business fit.
  • Manage technology support arrangements, supplier escalations, service standards and operational technology performance.
  • Ensure technology spend is controlled, commercially justified and aligned with business priorities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external technology partners whilst protecting the business from supplier and system dependency risk.
  • Developing and leading loc8me’s AI strategy and roadmap.
  • Identifying where AI could improve productivity, operational efficiency, customer and tenant experience, decision-making and growth.
  • Proactively evaluating emerging AI tools and relevant business use cases.
  • Working with leaders and teams to redesign processes and introduce practical AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Leading controlled pilots, measuring their impact and embedding successful initiatives into business-as-usual operations.
  • Establishing appropriate AI governance covering data protection, cyber security, accuracy, ethical use, supplier assessment and human oversight.
  • Ensuring teams are trained and supported to use approved AI tools safely and effectively.
  • Reporting to the SLT on AI adoption, benefits, risks, commercial impact and future opportunities.

Essential skills:

  • Proven experience in senior operational leadership roles, preferably within property, lettings, or a related service sector.
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities with experience managing multi-functional teams.
  • Track record of successfully implementing operational systems and driving business performance.
  • High-level communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working at board level and presenting business-critical updates.

Details & Salary:

  • Hours of work: 40 hours per week
  • From 70k 
  • Competitive Salary: Dependent on Experience
  • Driving licence required and personal car preferred
