The Role – Head of People 

The Head of People is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, governance, and continuous improvement of loc8me’s people function.

The role exists to ensure the business attracts, develops, engages and retains high-performing teams whilst creating a consistent employee experience, strong company culture, clear performance standards and fair reward structures to support sustainable growth and long-term business objectives.

The Head of People is expected to provide people leadership across the organisation, ensuring effective recruitment, onboarding, training, management development, employee engagement, internal communications, HR compliance, and people-related risk management to support business performance, organisational capability, and strategic planning.

Key duties and requirements include:

  • Develop and deliver the people strategy aligned with business objectives, growth plans and organisational priorities.
  • Oversee all people operations, HR processes, employee lifecycle activities and people-related systems across the business.
  • Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, training, development, engagement, retention and exit processes.
  • Develop clear frameworks for pay scales, reward, benefits, career pathways and salary reviews.
  • Support strategic decision-making through people data, workforce planning, employee insight and organisational capability planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, managers, Directors and department leaders.
  • Partner with leadership teams to support workforce planning, team performance, culture and employee engagement.
  • Act as the senior people contact for employee matters, HR advice, people-related change and organisational development.
  • Provide clear guidance and support to managers on recruitment, performance, employee relations, development and people policies.
  • Support the delivery of excellent employee experience through consistent communication, fair processes and effective people management.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, HR policies, statutory obligations and company procedures.
  • Maintain robust HR governance, employee documentation, contracts, records and people processes.
  • Oversee employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinaries, absence management, wellbeing and performance concerns.
  • Monitor and mitigate people-related risks, including retention, capability gaps, conduct issues, compliance risks and succession risks.
  • Ensure accurate HR records, audit-ready documentation and consistent application of policies are maintained.
  • Lead, develop and support the People function.
  • Set clear people objectives, expectations and performance standards across the business
  • Develop and implement performance management frameworks, feedback cycles, development plans and accountability standards.
  • Support managers with regular performance reviews, coaching, team development and employee progression.
  • Support recruitment, succession planning, leadership development and capability building across departments.
  • Drive the achievement of people-related KPIs and business objectives.
  • Monitor retention, engagement, absence, recruitment, training, performance and employee relations trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve employee experience, management capability, retention, productivity and organisational effectiveness.
  • Support continuous improvement of HR systems, processes, reporting, policies and communication channels.
  • Contribute to business planning, growth initiatives, organisational design and change management projects.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to support a consistent and positive employee experience.
  • Support wider business initiatives, strategic projects and organisational change programmes.
  • Promote loc8me values, expected behaviours and a positive working environment.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing, best practice, recognition and strong internal communication across teams.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, professionalism, inclusion, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Provide accurate and timely people reporting to the CEO/COO and Board.
  • Present updates on recruitment, retention, engagement, absence, performance, training, employee relations and people risk.
  • Monitor key people metrics and provide recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Escalate people risks, trends, capability gaps and opportunities with proposed actions.
  • Ensure agreed people actions are implemented, tracked and followed through.
  • Support board reporting, strategic planning, workforce reviews and organisational development planning.

Essential skills:

  • Proven experience in senior operational leadership roles, preferably within property, lettings, or a related service sector.
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities with experience managing multi-functional teams.
  • Track record of successfully implementing operational systems and driving business performance.
  • High-level communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working at board level and presenting business-critical updates.

Details & Salary:

  • Hours of work: 39 hours per week
  • Competitive Salary: Dependent on Experience
  • Driving licence required and personal car preferred
  • Salary: from £50,000
